A calendar is a way to visualise the time in an orderly manner. The task was to combine this given with a brand, and in our case, this was Leica. This was a team work, and my companion Tom Van Keer and I decided to work around the legacy of Leica and its reputation lasting for decades, combined with their latest model: the Leica M Monochrom, the first fully black & white digital camera with all the best features of the Leica M flagship. We used photos from the vast Leica Community, and combined those with a calendarium to resemble a transition in time. This image was projected from a incredibly sharp monitor display onto photographic paper – resulting in a traditional and old look. The technique we used to reproduce the calendar refers to their 100 year old tradition combined with the state of the art technology Leica also represents today.
